A bold and complex cup with a distinctive roasted aroma. The first sip delivers pronounced floral notes and a rich, full-bodied sweetness. The finish carries a lingering “rock rhyme” (yan yun), giving the tea depth and a mineral-rich character that evolves with every infusion.

Among the many legends surrounding Da Hong Pao, the tale of the Scholar's Gratitude is the most widely celebrated. In 1385, a scholar named Ding Xian fell severely ill from sunstroke while traveling to take the imperial exams. He was saved by a monk from Tianxin Temple who administered a special tea as medicine. After winning the top score and becoming the Zhuangyuan (Grand Scholar), he returned to coat the legendary tea trees in his scarlet imperial robes out of gratitude—giving birth to the name "Da Hong Pao" (Big Red Robe). Today, cherished for its incomparable depth and terroir, it is revered worldwide as the "King of Wuyi Rock Tea."

TimeBai Da Hong Pao pays a modern homage to this legendary heritage. Sourced from the rugged, mineral-rich cliffs of the Wuyi Mountains, these single-origin leaves capture the timeless soul of authentic rock oolong, delivering an elevated, deeply comforting ritual for the contemporary lifestyle.

Dry Leaf: Tightly twisted, robust cords with a glossy, dark charcoal-black (wu run) luster.

Tea Liquor: A brilliant, deep amber-orange infusion that is strikingly clear, vibrant, and luminous.

Infused Leaf: Soft, pliable, and dark glossy green to brown

Classic Hot Brew

  • Tea Amount: 4–5g (approx. 1–2 teaspoons of loose leaves) — Rock tea loves a generous leaf ratio!
  • Water Volume: 200ml
  • Water Temp: 95–100°C (203–212°F) — Boiling water is essential to wake up the rock rhyme.
  • Steeping Time: 1.5 – 2 minutes
  • Ritual Note: Pour boiling water gently over the roasted leaves. Do not over-steep during the initial rounds to appreciate the evolving layers of fruit and roast. These premium leaves are incredibly durable, yielding 5+ flavorful infusions.

Refreshing Cold Brew

  • Tea Amount: 4–5g (approx. 2 teaspoons of loose leaves)
  • Water Volume: 500ml (Bottled, room-temperature, or filtered water)
  • Steeping Time: 8–10 minutes (Quick Method) or Overnight (Deep Cold Brew)
  • Ritual Note: * For a quick fix: Drop the roasted leaves into your water bottle, shake up and down 5–6 times, and wait 10 minutes for a uniquely crisp, roasted refreshment.
  • For optimal silkiness: Place it in the fridge overnight. The slow cold-steeping draws out a beautifully smooth, naturally sweet, and mineral-rich iced oolong with zero harshness.
  • Net Weight: 60g (2.12oz)
  • Tea Form: Loose Leaf
  • Storage: Store in a cool, dry place, away from light and strong odors
