About Ceylon tea

Ceylon tea refers to teas from the growing regions of Sri Lanka, formerly known as Ceylon. In altitudes between 1,000 and 2,000 meters, aromatic, flavourful teas grow. Ceylon teas are known for their medium-bodied, tangy, slightly malty, and fresh taste, often reminiscent of citrus fruits. Harvesting depends on the monsoon rains: where it doesn’t rain, harvesting occurs – in the island's centre year-round. Sri Lanka is one of the world's largest tea exporters, and Ceylon tea is a main component of many English blends.

Cultivation

This tea originates from the steep hills of the Nuwara Eliya Estate, where it is grown at an altitude of 8,000 feet above sea level. The Nuwara Eliya Estate is in one of Sri Lanka's most renowned tea-growing regions. The cool mountain air and mineral-rich soil contribute to the development of the unique flavour profile. The tea leaves are carefully picked and handled by hand to ensure the highest quality.
